Lighting is so smooth you wonder whether she's a real model or a doll! I love this picture.

Just gorgeous--the right combination of lighting, tones, stance, expression. These types of portraits mystify me, as if those of you who can do them well exist in another dimension. ;) You bring out the best in your hassy.

The S shaped pose really works well with this model and in this composition. The expression is very sauve and slightly enigmatic, a mood enhanced by the lighting. Very nice.
I'm glad to have found your work again.

Elegance combined with erotism. Wow! The diagonal composition combined with the square format. Now on to why I find this erotic. Sure I'm probably searching to much behind this photo... BUT I just have to say this :-) here goes... the dress is elegant, thats what makes it constrast with the erotic parts, you can see the forms of her belly through the dress a bit... and the way she holds her dress with her hands, tense like that... well thats all passion to me! :-) Call me nuts or whatever.
Anyway it's a great photo. The lighting adds to the elegancy and makes the erotism less obvious and therefore stronger.

The colors and pose are fabulous. She has a foreign look which fits this background and outfit perfectly. I too am not a portrait kind of guy but this is excellent accept for one thing in my opinion. Her face and the right side of her hair looks digital or manipulated or created somehow. It is not quite natural. It is only a subtle detection. Nevertheless this is still a 9 in my book!

Steven, my first studio shoot ever was on April 15th of this year. I never took any class nor read a single chapter on lighting systems. I asked friends that know about it and the rest was my creativity+trial+error... You will know right away if you have it. Just remember- see with your meter, not your eyes. ;)

Lovely models, great poses and very dramatic lighting. Can this studio lighting be self taught or is one better off seeking help (university classes, apprenticeships, etc). How did you go about it Chris?

Very nice pose and very good details... but I'd rather to see this model with a hairlight or backlight just little enough to her head (right and top)... maybe buy using small honeycomb

I am a complete amateur, so there's no contructive comments I can give, but I've looked through all of your pics, and checked out your web site, and you are my new hero! As far as this picture goes, it's just as great as all the others you've posted.

Lovely!. Very good in terms of details and composition. Half of her face is almost pitch black, which is very artistic but I think it can be better to make it a little more visable.

It was a cool dress. The bottom layer was much brighter than the top one. You could not see it in daylight, but with a strobe it shows. Wherever the layers touch you can see the brighter fabric picking through...

Stunning! Pose, lighting and tones are spot on. The composition is very elegant and does justice to the square format. Excellent work!
