At this point in time, I didn't know what an ND grad was, this was just spot metered off a medium area in the fog - and now, I probably wouldn't have time to put it on - it happened so fast. I did some dodging in PS - this is not the final image - it is always changing.

This whole foggy sunrise series is delightful, deserving of all the high ratings. The reflected sunlight below the tree seems just a tad bright to me. Other than that, another great shot.
