This is a beautiful shot, and I love the soft colours. Glaring, full- or over-saturated yellows might have looked good for the leaves, but wouldn't have blended nearly so naturally with the gentle greying of the colours caused by the mist. Since you ask for critical comment, I would say that my temptation would be to walk into the picture a little, moving the tree trunk to the left so that that there is hardly any open sky to the left of it, and that spiky bush is eliminated, but without bringing into the frame much more of what is out of it to the right. You'd have to careful not to make the stone wall too prominent. Difficult... Looking at your other photos I'd be prepared to bet you've made the best of this opportunity anyway!

Bernd,
Thanks for the comments! Just what I was looking for. My wife and I agree this is the better version. As a matter of fact I never printed the other one only this one.

Wow! These colours . . . The yellow leaves nicely offset the grey. 'driech' background. Having looked for / at your earlier submission of the same scene I prefer this one - there is a nice continuation from the tree to the handrail and a full swing to the front of the houses, whilst on your earlier submission (http://www.usefilm.com/image/240002.html) there's a break and an 'ugly' corner in that part of the frame. The path there leads out of the picture, while here everything is in a nice, 'round' swing, that leads back into the picture and back to the tree again. I cannot help feeling that there's something 'not right' on the left side of the frame, and initially (before I saw your earlier version of this scene) I would have suggested to swing the camera more to the right - DON'T!! You've done very, very fine! How about brightening up the leaves (top right) per weak fill in flash/ reflector? Just a thought . . . I have no idea how to judge 'originality' - so you'll get full marks for gettimg me so involved! I try to imagine stepping a bit to the back and a bit to the right, aiming here and there . . . Well, you certainly got me going here! Great work! Thanks for sharing the picture! Best regards!
Bernd
