Thank you to everyone who has commented on this image.
Marek; I would love to see what you would make of this. Would you mind? I hope it is not too much to ask. I wanted to achieve a black or dark reference point but was unable to achieve it effectively so left it the way it is above. If you do attempt this, I'd appreciate an explantation as well. Thanks.

Soft and seductive. The interesting perspective you have approached from and the unnatural amount of light (for the underside) of a mushroom make this very special indeed. The gentleness is great, however some darker lines would be appropriate - not much just a little. Easily done with curves. Im thinking of this to enhance shape and texture a touch.
PS: thank you for your lengthy comment re my portfolio.

This one is gorgeous. A tiny bit too hot on the left side of the stem but other than that it is great.

This is beautiful, John. Love the color. I do think the lower left of the stem is taken a little to far, lost detail. This also looks like one of the deadly ones if it is white on the underside!

John,
I could see this one blown up real big and hanging on the wall in some stylish home. For me, it has two messages: 1. You can take wonderful pictures of almost anything, and 2. You don't need $5,000 worth of equipment and Adobe software to get the job done. Inspring indeed.

Thanks for the comments. The only bleaching that took place here was in my image editor (PSP 7) where a major gamma correction of 2.5 was made from the original image (see attached).
