It's a very strong work. It's very plastic and the blue color gave the necessary stress to the composition.

...void
...that thing blind sights you in the four o'clock in the afternoon.
day dream...
nightmare...
what ever it is it's not there and is every where it's just too over whelming!

then I look at it again and I see a very nice composite of water and sculpture,
Very cool! I wish I had thought of it...

Wow, that's FANTASTIC. Very ingeniously done. This is one of my favorite images--of all time! As to your question, at first I saw agony, but the more I look, the expression on the face looks like a yawn. The water yawning on a tired, summer day.

  0

Todd Broadbent   {K:2204} 8/28/2003
Agony, sweet and blue
Tears from sockets without eyes
Stars and sun gathered and deflected by the hue
Say you won't go there
I still see you

Gasping for air where there's none
Crying in my sleep
There's only one

abstract thoughts while observing your art...

Patricia Eifel   {K:5097} 8/27/2003
Neptune rising from the deeps, railing in frustration against man's destruction of his world..?....hmmm...I must have missed this one while I was in Dallas this weekend. A great construct Jim and one of your most successful aqua-mergers, I think.
...Pied du Cochon...I know it well. Still a great place to stop for a yummy choucroute. In fact, plan to do just that in about two weeks... We must be very much of the same age. I remember my first onion soup at the old Les Halles during my sophomore year in '70. A flirtatious parisien at the next table bought a bottle of wine for my girlfriend and I and we sipped it well into the wee hours...it was a special place and still is, changes and all.

I can see the cry of an earlier powerful king that has lost his kingdom; like Neptune that looks at his see spoiled by pollution.
Beyond that, the impact is very strong and the composition is great!
My copmliments!

Stefan Engström   {K:24473} 8/24/2003
I see pain, but the water and the color blue contradicts that somehow. This face over glowing embers may leave you with a more uniform interpretation (not that that is necessarily what one would want). It also creates a desire to learn how to do this type of image blending!

  0

Kristina Kohut   {K:49990} 8/24/2003
What I think? Hm... I'm not sure I can describe, but I try... :-) I feel that air has come to an end, there is no more air. He (or she) instinctivly tries to get it, without result, and lack of oxygene makes the eyes roll, while he (she) is disappearing into a nice and peaceful end, or a new fresh start. This was my first thought, but now I also start thinking of ghosts that are kind of melted into floors etc. This is superb artwork, but I'm not surprised, you are really great at this!

Richard Blount   {K:8015} 8/23/2003

Andre Fersen   {K:1679} 8/23/2003
The expression is deeply ambiguous, as you say. The eyes are interesting - they look sightless, partly opened but nothing visible. The shape of the face is strange - it seems to extend outwards as if flat, beyond the eyes, instead of cirving as it should. The shimmer is probably water but also looks like a web - and it's differeent on each side of the face. Overall, looks dream-like (the blue helps create that effect I think), something Jung might have in a book someplace. A bit classical too, as someone says - Neptune awakes.

The watermaster strikes again. McNitt is in the blue spotlight and he's shown once more what a man with a creative mind can do. Really impressive work!! F*%&#ng unbelieveable almost. The face is very powerful and the watercolour/ripples is excellent.

Mighty good sir!
