Eerie and yet hauntingly beautiful. It certainly has plenty of the gee whiz visual effects in there, and maybe a bit heavy on it too in my opinion.

Excellent toning and interesting angle! from someone who passes from this place everyday this pic gives a whole new perspective of a familiar spot...(judging from the women's dresses this should be an old photo but then...I'm not so sure!)Rgds,Rena

On the plus side this is a lovely image with very nice use of light and shadow. I would definitely called this image a ?decisive moment?. On the minus side I find the addition of the film frame distracting. There are times when leaving the frame in the image works but this is not one of them. The tower leaning in the center catches the eye and pulls it to the left. I?m not yet sure about the use of vignetting. I will have to ponder the effect it has for a while. There is the potential for a great image here with some darkroom/photoshop work. Good seeing.

Many Thanks!
Some facts: The National Library building is considered to be a characteristic sample of mature Neoclassicism. It was built between 1887 and 1902, based on a study of the Danish architect, Theophile Hansen -brother of Cristian Hansen. Hernest Ziller was the supervising architect who also studied the entrance stairways and the main bookstands. As early as in 1858, King Otho had ordered Hansen to make a study for the construction of a Library next to the University, that had already started being built

Although it is possible to approach photography from various angles, here I would like to consider it from the perspective of the nature of imagery. That is to say, it is in the sphere of our deepest feelings that the question "What is imagery ?" becomes a fundamental issue. Ordinarily we think that imagery is treated carefully in areas such as photography or painting. The photography arts give expression to all things through imagery, giving them preference over colors or lights. Yet, in the painting arts, imagery do not reach the point of being able to lay bare the deepest foundations of photography. This is because photography presupposes the existence of imagery.
So, I believe that you are describing the state of our everyday life, in which we cannot get beyond the sign-like imagery that we use within it.
