About For my Fashion class. Have been wanting to try a hi-key shot for a while, so I blew out the background with a light (and a bit of photoshop), and overexposed slightly. Had one key light to the right, used a softbox.

interesting, but maybe a bit too overexposed. Also, if you want to take a fashion shot, then maybe having a tuft of hair in the middle of the eye is not ideal...

I love this image. The exposure may not work for some observers but I love the way it adds to the starkness. The entire presentation is real and honest. And, by the way, the subject is beautiful.

Thanks Agniva. I did overexpose the photo slightly when shooting, but then in Lightroom I raised exposure quite a bit to get it where I wanted. The loss of detail on the face was entirely intentional, but I didn't use any of the blurring or dodging tools to do that, it was just the exposure. There was a certain photo I was thinking of that had a similair effect. I think it was Richard Avedon, but I can't find it. It's of a women with a black hat on, and it's overexposed so that all you can see is her eyes, mouth, and vague shape of the nose. I wasn't trying to imitate that one, but that's just what gave me the idea to do a hi key shot.

The model is beautiful. Nice high key shot. However, in my humble opinion, you lost too much details on the right face of the model.

Maybe... using another diffused, low-intensity fill light from the front-right OR simply overexposing by one stop might have reduced the necessity of using blur/dodge/clone stamp on the right face. Also, maybe a beauty-spot reflector on the right could have helped bring out a little bit more details on the hair.

The soft-focus effect on the hand is awesome.
