About	Aphids, also known as plant lice, are small plant-eating insects, members of the superfamily Aphidoidea. About 4,000 species of aphids are known, presently classified in 10 families, though historically there were many fewer, with most species included in the family Aphididae. Microscopic image. 50:1 magnification power. Olympus BX40 microscope with C4040 Olympus camera. No manipulation!

I work in my every day lab with a transmission microscope. Yes lateral lighting could be extremely beneficial when I work at microscope with non-transparent objects. I still need to figure how to do it in a proper manner!

Fantastic .. 50:1 wow .. i just think your picture would benefit from a better lighting (some sidelighting ?) .. i suppose here you worked in studio conditions.. Best regards, Peter
