thanks so much James for your kind comment... these castles made by Enetians (people from Venice) that was at the most areas of Greece at about 14 to 15 century, Crete was an island that they have since Othomanic (old Turkey) take over Greece for about 450 years... these castles was for pirates of course, at the old port of Heraklion there was two same at the main gate but the one colapse.... :-( anyway that is the only being now, the center of my city covered by a big wall... and the most of the walls can be seen even today in almost perfect way... not damaged! you can see shots and also how they looks like if you have Google Earth, type "heraklion" and hahahahaha... perchaps you'll see also me! :-D

thanks a lot my dear friend for your kind support... generaly Greece has very warm weather... even at the winter there are some days you can go easily to sweem! I miss the big waves there... lot of time to see weather like that... that castle still looks good...still... don't know if that could be after a couple of years! ...so I shot it as many times as I can get... at the past there was a second castle at the old port near to that (side by side) however that colapsed...

I can't recall your earlier photos of the castle but did that wall get knocked down or was that like that?
Somehow, I think that castle can survive just about anything... and has for, what, centuries?
