I like the coloring also very much, Dave, but unfortunately I realize that my attention was drawn too much by the colors and left the composition quite out of any consideration.
Cheers,
Nick

Thanks a lot for the tips and the tricks, darryl. I never use autofocus but what you say also applies to manual focus too.
The thing is that sometimes, like for example here, there is a focal point but it stands not quite recognizable due to the presence of quite many things out of focus in front and behind the focal point, and due to the rpesence of a very shallow DoF, exactly like here.
So the problem is way not only what to focus on but in addition what to include in the DoF. Focusing on something is easy but what to do with the rest and at what aperture/DoF - that's the question.
Still trying to find that out, I guess.
Cheers,
Nick

Hello Nick, You have wonderful colors in your photo. I would like to suggest a couple of thing concerning this photo. First, I don't know what the focal point in the photo is - the blue flower or the red flowers. The focal point should be the part of the photo that is in sharp focus. If using an auto focus lens, isolate the desired focal point from the rest of the composition and allow the auto focus to capture your target. Hold the auto focus until you remove the isolator and then complete the exposure. The second suggestion is to either eliminate bright objects during the shoot or selectively reduce the brightness when working with the photo. The bright leaves at the top of the photo confuse the eye. I hope these hints may help you achieve the photo you want. Sincerely Darryl
