Sorry, Ronen... let me explain. You misunderstand. When an American uses the phrase "I don't buy", it means "I disagree" or "I don't believe".

And that was a poor choice of the word "focus". I didn't mean as in camera focus, I meant as in attention focus.

What I was saying is that I like this perspective, the way the field of rocks is used. But when I have done photos like this, I have had critics say that it takes away the attention from the subject (being the mesa or mountain). And that is what I disagree with.

So I was praising your photo, not being critical of it. In fact, regarding lens focus on this, it is perfect.

hi dave
thanks for your comment.
you have to excuse my ignorance here, but i didn't understand what is that you dont "buy",as i dont see any problem with the focus :(

Now see, I love these shots with this perspective. I think it gives it a lot of depth. But I've had critiques say it takes too much focus away from the mesa. I don't buy it. Great shot, Ronen.

Simply amazingly crispy details on this breath taking landscape with that intriguing DoF and lighting! I don't know if a bit less sky could make the far lying mountain seem taller, stranger, more powerful! But for the sake of the clouds that also add much to this perspective, I think it is better to keep the whole sky there!

There is no explicit leading line here, but you managed to make depth visible by implicit lines that extend perpendicularly to the usual leading lines. They are implicit because they do not exist - the eye "sees" them by following the stones that create depth by getting denser in the perspective. I add an attachment to make this more clear.

Excellent!
