I like the background. The foreground is distorted by the lens. Would a nd gradient help in such a situation? I don't know. Could it produce this (it was a small .jpg, so I didn't have much to work with):
Since it is too cold outside. I just try this in front of the hotel's window. Light pollution is really a big problem now a day for the star lover. May be the title change to "Light Pollution" is better. :P
Maverick, I love star trails, but they are tricky. There is either a lot of lights in this city or it's a full moon. This is where the problem is. Star trails can be very interesting but if there is too much light, they lose their impact. I think that is what happened here. I've fallen into that trap as well. Less clutter in the foreground and less ambient light would make this much stronger, better yet, go find a place where only that majestic mountain is and try it there. Thanks for sharing.
