Hey good thing you posted the shot of the gorilla pod....cause i went to the store and found that it totally fits the bill for me. And is way lighter then i thought. I also came up with another idea for a light weight ball mount monopod. And that would be to get a 3/8 in threaded bolt welded to the top of a lag screw, threads faceing away from each other. Then the ball mount screws to the 3/8 screw end and the other end, the lag end, can be screwed into a stick that you find lying around where you are. Right into the top of it. Now i have a small saw on my knife and it goes through 1 inch sticks in seconds and will give you a flat surface to screw into. I also predrill the top of the stick with the awl on my knife as well. So there you go, a light weight walking stick that you didn't have to haul around and can throw bag on the ground when done. Makes the bag just that bit lighter when on the plane where that can be a issue. I will let you know if this is a good idea or ..... gack.... the worst thing i have thought of recently...lol
