New approach, looks like ethnic jewellery.Requires more DOF, otherwise very flattering light.

Good picture, but why such Shallow DOF for f/22? Is it because of macro mode?

Thanks for your comments. I agree that the DOF has to be improved upon. What I wanted to achieve in the photo was to visually provide the difference in texture of the two types of fig cones. Going from hard and coarse to soft. I would like to take this shot and post again as some have suggested. Thanks again for looking, and your invaluable support.

It's nice. The clarity is amazing - but I feel as if my eye is distracted and goes too many places - there are light spots, dark spots, etc. Maybe it's just me - but I think the clarity is awesome!!

Hi, Joy -

I really want to like this shot, because I really enjoy pictures of patterns, especially patterns in natural objects. I think this could be better if you focussed on one of the "blooms" (is that wheat or barley or something on the right?). Also, I think the flash doesn't help the color any. Try putting your subject on a weathered piece of wood and taking the shot around sunrise or sunset. I think strongly directional light to bring out the texture and the golden color to make it more "beautiful" would help. I think you have a neat subject here that simply needs different lighting. Are you willing to try that and post again?
