Hi Jan,
first I tought this was climbingrope, since our hoses here are green but certainly not blue. At a closer look yes then I saw that the title covered the picture. Indeed an abstract, but a good one!
Great my friend & grtz,
Alain

Patrizia-- many thanks for viewing and commenting on this photo. I just left a comment on a recent posting of yours that impressed me so much.
You are correct, the hose is an off-white and not blue. The early morning light was blue-ish and I accented the blue more so by slightly shifting the color temperature when converting from RAW to Photoshop.
--Best regards, Jan

Patrizia Patdil   {K:3079} 11/19/2006
Nice composition! I like the blue also because it does not seem the colour of the “hose” but more the quality of light.

Ahhh... rememeber that frame is only a bunch of pixels holding hands ... look out! Don't worry, I just have a circus going on in my head most of the time - comes from being a primary school teacher for decades - one day, if ever I retire, I think I'll start writing kids' picture books.

Ed-- Wow! You have given me a fresh look at the "Hose". Not sure I want to walk by it in the dark anymore after hearing how you perceive it. lets hope that frame holds it in check :)

I do like capturing every day objects that we don't notice, as we see them every day in plain and simple places. Thanks for seeing that in this photo.

Well Jan, here's a very subjective response to this image - a non technical one. How an image makes us feel is really important imho. It looks like it's something alive! Quite surreal. I like the frame being so solid (there, everyone is different!)- it gives a feeling that this 'alive' whatever it is that's 'in there' is somehow safely contained - as though its world and ours should not really mix.

Christine-- Thanks for your kind words. The only color adjustment was made for color source/balance when I imported the RAW file into Photoshop. The photo was shot in shade in the afternoon and had a slight blue appearance in reality. By shifting the Kelvin degrees a bit on the RAW more blue was emphasized.

Joel--
Thanks for your comments (and Lisa, too). You can tell I have been playing with frames a little bit and have not mastered the PS appoach yet. I have been using the ACTIONS>FRAMES approach and have not really found something that I like yet. The frame on this pic was fooling around and you are right on the money (thanks) that it should have been all black.
Are you also saying that the frame is too thick? This seems to be the way the canned action makes them-- I think I better look at making the frames from scratch or modifying the scripts that came with PS.
Will play a bit and see what works.
Thanks again---

-Love, Pops

Howdy Pops!

Lisa and I love this! it's amazing.. the tone first made me think tha tI was looking at an image captured from a tv screen (probably the use of the soft button frame).

I agree with you.. the strength of the color version is much more bold that a b/w. What I would suggest, is instead of the soft bevel frame, replace it w/ a solid black frame. The gradient in the fame has grays that don't exist in the image, and step the frame too far off of the image.

Very nice image! One of your best abstracts so far! Very well spotted and captured!
