About F-86 Sabre doing a very hard turn inbound . This was the very best Sabre flight demonstration that I have ever seen . The pilot flew this 1950's era fighter at it's limit at EXTREMELY low altitude . Sometimes as low as 50 feet and just under supersonic speed . It was a thrill to see the last of the pure gunfighters in action . Shot hand held .

Thanks Todd . Wow , your uncle sounds like quite a guy . I grew up on an Airforce base ( CFB Chatham ) and one of the Golden Hawks was on the pedistal at the base's main gate . I walked by that plane every day for about 12 years . I've had the priveledge of meeting quite a few Sabre pilots over the years and they were a very special guys indeed . The last of the true gunfighters .

Rob,

Excellent shot of the Sabre. I have a special place in my heart for this aircraft. My uncle, Lt. Col. (Ret) Fern Villeneuve, was the first squadron leader for the Golden Hawks acrobatic team (predecessor to the Snow Birds). They used Sabres to fly their formations and stunts.

Thanks Chris , I appreciate it . This F-86 looked brand new and it was a real treat to see it fly in hands of a fearless combat pro . Super impressive flying . This shot was captured with the plane about 150 feet off the ground and going about 500 mph . I was lucky to get it .

great timing and perfect compo for a difficult high speed shot! Great detail too; unlukely the sky tones was not at its fullest by the way the shot is really impressive.
Well done

Wow, what a shot and fantastic hand held! On my monitor this seemed a tiny bit dark, so I adjusted the levels just a bit on both sides of the histogram. Not sure how it will look on folks monitors, but it brought a little more texture to the clouds on mine. A fabulous shot!!!!! Hope this is a helpful alternative.
