A somewhat "generic" sunset shot taken at Moffit Reservoir, Des Moines, IA that I probably wouldn't keep if it weren't for the brilliant colors. I tried cropping the left out some, as it seems a bit heavy, but no matter how the crop was done, it didn't look right to me.
I guess your shot isn?t "generic", it?s very beautifull ... as longer as each sundown is unique, any sundows photo is also unique. I liked the reflection of the sky on the water ... your photo is an excellent example that the 'Rule of the Thinds' isn?t unbreakable.
Yes, actually I *do* like that... When I did different crops I didn't like any of them, but now that I see it after someone else has done it, it looks good. Your way creates a sort of swirl thing with the branches. I think I was trying too hard to hang onto the clouds to the far right, which I do still like but I see they can be safely sacrificed :) Thanks for your comment.
I think you could have sloved the heavy problem part, by placing the setting sun on the right part... But, obviously you couldn't... I tried my self cropping it quickly, but the left side with both the dark part and the extreme light part, having all the power... I tried different approach, might help.. please tell me what do you think... I agree with you... it is very beautiful sunset... wish that I was there
