Nice presentation, Don. The clouds & angle of view really put it up there. Yeah, that's a big rock!

Awesome textures, beautiful rich powerful colours and immense detail in this further outing into the desert my dear friend. As is usual from you Don the depth to your thoughtfully composed shot is excellent. Well done to you........I'm all behind as usual at this time of the week due to work. My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray

Thanks Tony, yes I have several of this rock and some are already posted. The reason for the grass in left foreground is to give the picture depth but maybe I should have toned it down. Thanks for your very nice comments. Most appreciated. Don.

I like the diagonal line, cloud rock and tree plus the 2 clumps of grass on the right.I find the left side a little cluttered for my taste, for me it creates a slight imbalance to the left,I keep finding my eye drawn to that clump of grass in the left corner.Did you take any more shots with fewer elements, this scene has a lot of potential. On the whole it's a very nice shot, looks like a wonderful area to be photographing- lucky you!!
Best regards, Tony

Hi Don,

Upon openingthis photo, my immediate reaction was that it needs an adjustment in the levels, to revive the crisp, warm tones... The rather bold, centered composition is quite effective, though, and I like how the rock formation is flanked by the two trees - very good touch.

Cheers,

Hugo

Wow, you were at a perfect 90 degrees from the sun, yielding the darkest, bluest sky you could imagine, Don. Nice shot!

Another nice one Don. The cloud adds a lot to the shot.

Hi Dave, This area is just north of Mexican Hat. We have stayed at Mexican Hat twice in the Motel right on the bend of the highway on the river. There is a rock just north of town that looks like a bit mexican hat and that is where they get the name. No I haven't been to Bluff.
Don.

Most awesome sky color, Don. Looks like you could've been in my neck of the woods. I went near Mexican Hat, or maybe through it later at night, and wondered why they called it that. Now I wonder if this is the reason? If I remember right, the town wasn't much to see. Did you make it through Bluff, UT when you were over there?

Dave
