About Another shot for the fresh produce company. I'll be eating tomatoes for weeks - they gave me way too many. Anyone have a good recipe for sauce? hehehee.

....I'll definitely get a shot of the greenhouse for you, it's an amazing structure and about to be doubled in size, this industry is a god send for Guyra, we had a meat works years ago but it closed and the place went a bit quiet for a while, the statistic I quoted came from a newspaper so it's almost certainly wrong...just kidding! ....your work sounds interesting, doing what you love and making a buck at the same time....nirvana!! cheers Peta, david.

Well well, guess what David?....these tomatoes are from that greenhouse! I shot these for The Costa Group last week, and the MD told me about their big greenhouse up there. GOsh maybe I should up my hourly rate - 8 mill you say?! Especially if my images help improve that figure, hahaha! Thanks for your comment :)

Like the strong colours and the water drops add to it. Well composed.

Excellent shot of one of my favorite foods! Well done as always and hopefully a paying gig as well! Try this one:

Cut the tomatoe in half. Sprinkle both halves with a little salt and cover with a layer of dried basil. Top the basil with a generous layer of grated Parmesan or Parmesan + Romano cheese. Bake in a 375 f degree oven (or 190 c for you Celcius folks) for 35-40 minutes on an oiled sheet of tinfoil till the chhese is brown and bubbly. Enjoy! Super sweet, just like you.

Cheers, -mm

aaaaagh.....what beauties these are...and on the truss still n'all....sorry, must get a grip, my interest in these fruits lies in the fact that one of the biggest greenhouses in the southern hemisphere (maybe even the whole hemisphere) is near here, at Guyra, 150,000 plants and a turnover of $8million a year, that's a lot of tomatoes....so Peta, you have made a lovely general interest shot here, they say food is hard to photograph, dunno, fun, well done. cheers, david.

Peta, very good work, the deatil is great but, I would like to see another shot with perhaps a greater depth of field and maybe a different but subtle coloured background to play off against the red and green (at the moment it looks too pink).
As for recipes - I found one in Morocco called "Kefta aux Oeufs" (basically vegetarian meatballs with eggs in tomatoe sauce) The sauce mixture is really simple - 1 kilo of tomatoes, 4 onions (minced) 1.5 teaspoons of ground cinnamon, 3 tablespoons of sugar, 10 flat leaf parsley sprigs, 15-20 fresh sprigs of coriander (ground in a mortar and pestle - more flavour.) Salt to taste and a half teaspoon of freashly ground black pepper (and if you want to really bring ound out the aroma of pepper - then fry the seeds in a dry saucepan for a few minutes, but don't burn them! Add all the ingredients, cover and simmer for 50 minutes (yum). If you want the "Kefta part - let me know.

Cheers John (the sad old man (LOL)

LOL! I just got back from the store this morning with a bunch of tomatoes. Our company is having a cook-out this afternoon, and everyone urged me to make a batch of my salsa: tomatoes, onion, carrot, cilantro, habanero peppers, serrano peppers, olive oil, lime juice and balsamic vinegar. The habaneros creep up on you, so you're on your second or third bite of salsa before you begin to appreciate how HOT it is. ;)

Hello Peta nice capture. Our tomatoes have finished due to frost etc. Put excess through the food processor (skins and all) cook up with onions, fresh basil and freeze.
Chris
