Hi Lori - no worries, I'm actually not a sailor myself, but I think anyone can appreciate these beauties...

What strikes me the most about this photograph is the huge sail and the figures of people showing through, and the white of another sailboat also showing through.
Fantastic lighting, I like this image a lot. Also like the lines of the clouds and the different lines/texture in the sail. Also the ripples of white water, great!
Very nice Chris, Lori :)
ps..I really don't know much about sailing, so don't have the proper words for it all.

Hi Hugo, I would agree that the futhermost left yacht doesn't add much to the image. To me, it's all about the translucent sail as well. This was a great opportunity, and on a day like this, with boats like these, you'd have to try to not capture an incredible image.
Cheers, Chris

Hi Chris, spectacular shot; the smooth elegant curves of the 12m, the 3DL North genua trimmed beautifully, translucent enough to show the action on the foredeck. I'd say the yacht on the left is a tad redundant; it doesn't add much to the main area of attention, and could be cropped off without loosing any value for the photo. The point of view, with the boat seemingly veering towards you is an awesome angle for tacking yachts; Interesting to see how a luffward shot can be as pleasing as this one; thanks to the translucency of the genoa...:)
Cheers,
Hugo
