Very well seen and captured! This is a rollercoaster for the eyes!
Nothing to comment on, except excellent shot!

This abstarct messes with my mind. I think it's the edge of a waterfall, pulling the image down into the curve which the right side suggests, but the reflection of the clouds make it seem like there isn't much movement... no ripples or anything!
I like the repeated pattern in the water on the diagonal.

What a beautiful place to be... those mountains look huge! (and they probably are huge!) Great vantage point for this shot... the ripples in the water from the boat add an interesting texture.
It does seem a touch blue though... intentional? If not it could be the scan from the slide... that always happens to me.
Thanks for sharing... this is awesome!

Hahahha, this is well seen, and well captured. It's straight out of a B horror flick (okay, maybe a Hollywood horror flick as I don't see a zipper!)
Beautiful colour and saturation... how are you liking the D70?

What awesome lighting... those trees ae glowing red (probably from beetle kill) and the mountains look so luminous.
I haven't been out hiking that much this year, as my husband has a bad hip and has been using a cane to get around (he's only 30!) so we haven't gotten out many places. I'm hoping his MRI will get him on the road to recovery and next year we can explore again.
This scene makes me want to leave work and get out into nature! Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful lines in this one... it's got a texture of smooth silk, I never would have guessed plastic!

Nice use of light and shadows to give the depth... it really pulls me in.

Such sharpness and detail! What a stunning location... I haven't really spent too much time in Jasper... but this makes me want to go! Gotta love that golden hour light! Magical!

Excellent focal point and DOF... I wish that you were standing a bit more to your right though, to catch more of the person's face behind the slingshot.
Awesome punchy colour saturation as well!

The silhouette original image has so much drama and atmosphere... really great job making the tension come out.

The background colours add to the drama very nicely as well.

I've heard from another photographer as well that you can catch buterflies and place them on a flower at night and they will still be there in the morning until it warms up enough to fly away... have you ever tried this?
Thanks so much for the advice!

Seems like this one is an eye-catching photo to most (judging from the 207 views!)
What a fantastic silhouette capture.... just the plant would have been nice, but the spider is the icing on the cake.
Such a nice warm glow makes the sharpness of the dandelion stand out even more.

Wow! Such sharpness and detail!!! How long did you have to wait to capture this?
I am hoping to go to the Vancouver Aquarium soon to take in their butterfly world display and capture some nice butterfly shots... any advice you can offer?

I love these kind of images... and the fact that it was done all in-camera makes it even better!
Such a painterly feel to it... the scenery is perfect for this kind of shot!
Thanks for sharing the shutter speed as well... I want to keep exploring these types of shots, but with film it's a little more expensive to try things out!

Interesting angle and view... I like how the lines at the top pull me into the image, and then can choose to look left or right to two different scenes.

*groan* (in response to Dirck's attempt at a joke!!!)
The colour is what captures the eye and draws me in... Hugo had a good suggestion about waiting for the sun to go down even more to get some deep shadows along the rock, but I like this just the way it is as well. The rock sure doesn't look smooth though... the detail in this image makes it look rough like 50 grit sandpaper!

Hi Stefan,
Thanks for the comment... I really wanted to highlight the cross someone has carved through the wall, and the only way I knew how was to silhouette it against the outside. But I agree that there is a lot of black. I guess I could have taken two shots, one like this, and one with the inside of the house metered and merged the two together, but I wonder if I would have lost the impact of the cross? Something to try next time I'm passing through!
Thanks again!

Hi Doruk,
There isn't any digital manipulation here... the only thing it went into PS for was to match the colour to the slide and sharpen it. It's just the use of small DOF and a flower that stuck out about a foot higher than the rest.
Thanks for taking a look!

I like how even though the images are tilted there is one main line on the left of centre that is connected throughout. It ties the images together even more (as the colour and repeating patterns do it as well).
Very interestingly laid out and well captured!

Well seen and well laid out... I like how the defining line has a curve to it, it pulls my eyes through the image.
At the top right there seems to be a heavy shadow... seems a little out of place. If this was shot it a studio set up you could probably fix it, but if this wasn't set up I think you did an amazing job of capturing it.
One other little nit is one of the paint cans on the top left... it seems to have a pinky hue to it within the shadow. It really stands out to me, as everything else is so white.

Wow, the colour is amazing... the sky is on fire!
I like the use of the trees in the foreground to add some interest, although I wish that you had moved a little to your left to put that main tree off center just a little bit. It would help to balance the image as right now there is so much in the center and on the left, but the right feels very empty.
Anyways, awesome colour, and great silhouette!

I totally thought that the light had "spotlighted" the tree... what a great capture, knowing now that it just the fallen leaves!
I think that you should also post one without the swingset and see what it looks like... I think I like it back there... it adds some interest in the background, but doesn't take away from the image.
Stunning light!

Interesting subtle colours here, Dave... the pink and blue work together nicely to give this a serene feel. Although I do find that the lines of the weeds in the water contrast with the lines of the waves, dispelling the calmness. It's an interesting dichotomy, the calmness of colours against the tension of lines.
You mention this is a repost... I'll have to go looking for the original to see what is different!
Good to see you posting again... thanks for sharing!

Wow, this is unbelieveable! Such detail and sharpness... was this dragonfly alive? I only ask because 1/60 seems so slow to capture such detail and with the reversed lens I would think you would have to get very close to it in order to get such detail.
Beautiful image!

Love the motion and the excitement that this one builds... you always seem to be having so much fun! I'm very jealous!
This is my fave out of the three as well... I think it's the implied fun aspect... water, people, motion... it has it all!

Wow, what a difference! A well seen composition in the original, and made even more stunning with the gradient mask... I will have to take a look!
I like all three versions, although being a lover of colour your first post calls to me. Love the burnt orange in the foreground!

What an adorable face... next time getting more of the cute face, more straight on, would be nice. They always look so peaceful when asleep!
Focus seems a little soft on him too... still, a cutie.

Thanks Pinar,
I wish that there was a little more DOF so that the whole body was in focus, but the only time that I could get out there to shoot was 7pm on a cloudy day....
I'm glad you thought it was cute anyways!

Congrats on Best in Project! The minimal DOF works really well here to pull the lizard's face out from the bg.... I wonder about cloning or blurring that one strip along the back of his head though, where the focus is sharp again. Just having the entire head in focus is really great and I find that my eye travels to the other piece too often.
An amazing capture... and great B&W tones!
