I tried Polaroid transfers a while ago, and they have a real unique feel to them - almost painterly, with strong yellows. I like the treatment here and think you got some really great artwork.

Hey Tim,

I'm digging your paintings - I keep stopping by the web site and checking them out. I especially love the moments when I look at one and recognize the location from your photographs.

Hey Hugo -

I came in today under the same weather in Kansas, USA. Been raining the last few days and waiting for the weather to break. I'm hoping to have new posts worthy of your critique in two weeks. Been away for a while standing up the web site, DVDs, etc...

Hoping your biz is going well.

I think I've had enough tornadoes, they are neat to see from a distance, but that is on the great plains where you can see them coming. In the hills it's not too fun to get surprised. I have to stop by and get some dry compression packs for the gear and a shell for the backpack. Could get wet. I like cloudy skies, but rain is not too fun sometimes.

...and pleasantly so. Even if for a short time I enjoy your postings.

The IR work is always captivating, and I think I see a little bit of Melancholytron work going on there.

Your fascination with photography and astronomy plays out well. Hopefully you can give us a primer on how to expose these scenes correctly some day - night photography is difficult to do with a digital camera. Noise problems, usually. Thanks for all the comments, find inspiration.

Hey Dave -

I think it's the intense saturation of color that makes this a real winner of a shot.

This one is more mysterious, I like coming back to this one because the composition is so strong with he central shaft of light. Color appears OK overall, with some blue daylight creeping in from the right. Another major difference if I look at the two side by side is this one has more contrast, with the shaft appearing all while while the other seems to have a little bit of smoky detail.

I've learned my lesson- don't correct for color on a laptop LCD - good luck. The canyon is probably a great candidate for HDR.

Dave:

Yeah - there are two stages. First, I ran a program to generate a color pattern. The second image picks up the first image and particles inherit the colors from the background.

All of this is a custom program. I'm writing up a package for Jude.

I agree. I like usefilm precisely for the feedback and all of these went through some changes. I've learned now to appreciate the foreground and background, and to try to build a complete scene when I photograph. Thanks for the critical comment.

I think this is my second favorite - a strong statement, really sharp, and the colors and tones are strong. I'm a sucker for simplicity.

A real master at the art on UF is Jeanette Hagglund if you look her up.

Hi Manu - I like the feeling of this shot.
I wanted to let you know that I took advantage of your suggestion, hopped on over to moonfruit, and dropped a site under MotosPhotos. I think it's a great tool, great suggestion, and thanks.

Hi Eric:

I tried a similar shot a while back, so it is good to see that great minds think alike. I really like the expressive composition to make the arc simplified and graphic. Great treatment. Hard to keep the whole thing in focus with the sun up there in the sky.

I agree the first versions did require a PhD, but after looking at Panorama Factory both PT GUI and Panaorama Factory are comparable products. PT GUI performs blending and auto-point lineup as well with multiple projections. I also like that PT GUI does allow for PhD-type work like selecting an alternate render/stitcher, but also has simple and easy defaults.
