Thanks, all...

Joggie, this is the "Orton Effect" applied in PS. Basically, duplicate background layer, blending mode = screen, merge down, duplicate, gaussian blur (13.7 or so for 6mp image), blend mode = multiply, merge down. Good stuff, if you can pop out a good one... very dream-like, I think.

Great picture. Reminds me of a book I once read. "El vuelo del aguila ~ The flight of an eagle." Congratulations.

Hey Jim, The black was actually a conference room wall. New building, strange internal decorating - two walls are "cream", the other two are black. One of my friends has a cubicle in a corner, and one of his walls is purple. Works out well for stuff like this, though, I suppose.

Boy a tough one to judge. I'm leaning toward the original. This one is softer and I like the detail in the original. I don't find the noise to be very noticable on my monitor but it may be objectionable at full size. How did you get the black background? Was it PhotoShop or someone's black jacket :-)

Oh wow, NeatImage did a great job, there. I accidentally shot the first 20 or so in this batch at ISO 3200, having forgotten to adjust the settings after demonstrating some features to a coworker. Unfortunately, there were a lot I took at ISO 3200 that I liked. I'm going to try NeatImage out on the rest of them, and see what I end up with - thanks!

I could say the photo is in my style
Thai is why i like it. The imporoved picture is better. I would additionally use neatimage to revove digital noise. If you do not know it, it is a freeware available at www.neatimage.com

for course using it we can loose details of the photo so we need to chose settings carefully

I add changed photo. I cropped it only in order not to resize (to show the efect of neatimage)

I appreciate your suggestions. I'm not so great with Photoshop, but maybe if I had shot it something like this, then?

Dear Joe

I agree entirely with Ashley, but i would also have removed the parrtial flower on the bottom left - I feel you have the beginnings of a very simple and striking composition.

Cheers John

The lighting here is brilliant. The exposure is right on the mark, and I love the soft tones and colours. One minor thing, I would crop that little bit of blue off of the left side. Perfect capture otherwise.
