What a great shot, Marcus! You caught him at precisely the right moment. The goldeneye is soooo hard to get the exposure correct on,that darned white spot on it's head throws everyting off! I havent' been able to do it yet... but this is very good.

This a beautiful composition with nice, subtle colors and good DOF. The reflections are wonderful and the picture has such a lovely sense of stillness and peace about it.

Thanks, Tim! You know SF - sunny, foggy-- it's a coin toss! I especially love summer, when it's nice and warm and then the fog rolls in, catching the tourists in t-shirts and shorts off guard;)) (well, that has actually happened to me these past few years, I live in the East Bay now, and forget to bring a jacket sometimes....)

Thanks for looking, and btw, I love your portfolio!

very nice-- dreamy in a sort of "going to turn into a monster" sort of way (OK, so I was watching Alien last night, what of it?? ;))
Nice composition and tones.

This is very nice, Tim. I like the tones and textures-- and, as you said, the line of the rocks with the squareness of the tower. Very nice in B&W.

DANG!! That's a great capture of a SH Crane, Fred! I went to the SH Crane festival up here in Lodi, CA, and wasn't able to get any kind of shot-- this is fantastic. I think I'll go back next year and try again (OR.... go down there to NM and try, looks like it's a beatiful place;)

a very nice capture, Cheryl--great details on this black dog, a difficult thing to do, especially with strong backlighting. You have a wonderful portfolio, lots of beautiful critter photos. Are you doing rescue work? If so, then thank you-- I know how hard it is (I've been doing it for a couple of years out here)but it's so full of rewards. If you don't do rescue work, then dang, a fine portfolio and you're lucky to get to see so many dogs!! ;))

Thanks, Doyle... Chip was one of our rescue fosters, and he found a great home with a loving family. He had a habit of looking over the gate when the small dogs came out to play on the patio-- I couldn't resist taking this shot.

ok, I'm getting vertigo looking at this thing!! The details are good, and I actually like the bit of overexposure-- it works well with sepia and B&W, adding a feeling of desolation to the shot. nice composition, Michele.

Thanks, Michele-- yep, his owner said that he's half lab-- another great rescue dog from a local shelter. A very friendly guy who was having a great time running through the water.

Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for your comments, Marcus. I've been past here many times, but hadn't gone in before. I like cemetaries, the peacefulness and stillness of them. It is a nice place for you to go visit with your grandparents...it is one of the most beautiful, and beautifully maintained cemetaries I've ever been to.

No landscapes? Awwww! I was surprised at the different birds at POFA... did you get any of the night herons? There were so many on the one tree, but all somewhat obstructed by the branches, I wasn't able to get a good capture of one....

I need to check out HMB again sometime soon....

Take care, and thanks for your comments.

Hi Marcus-- yes, I like getting lost, usually-- but with the right shoes and a bottle of water would have been nice! ;) Funny how some of these are so confident and bold, and others, like the one at Contra Loma, take flight at the drop of a hat. This guy almost seemed to like having his photo taken-- it was almost like cheating (he really is alive, honestly!).

Thanks for the comments :)

a very interesting landscape... what's the story with the rocks? were they brought there, or are they naturally occuring?? Nice dof and composition.

a nice night shot of NY, NY-- I don't think I've seen this perspective of it before (it might be time for me to go and check it out again... nope, no money in the wallet!) Very nice depth and exposure.

Thanks, btw, for your comments on my GG Bridge shot.
