very nice abstract and simplified sense to this. great use of repetition to add interest in the fruits and the shadows. nice job here.

very strong work here. interesting composition, nice use of the framing, and the title adds a lot. great exposure and abstract sense also.

nice work here. it's interesting seeing the balance between snapshot tourist work and more creative and composed shots. are you familiar with neo-modernism and the notions in the 80's and 90's or questions of the originality of art, the purpose of art vs. snapshot and so on. lots of interesting ideas, although i tend to think in other manners. nice job here.

very interesting work here and nice end result. the abstract sense and the paint-like quality really are nice. nice color hues also.

Calin, nice perspective and interesting image here. the horizontal lenght of it adds a lot. the one thing in this case i would like to see is more skin tones and textures, the small details. if shot with Ilford 50, you probably got more rich details, but maybe they were lost in the digital transfer of scanning and making a jpeg. nice work here though.

first, thanks for the good informed comment on my image, much appreciated. in your portfolio, this one really catches my eye. this has a real strong composition, use of textures and skin tones, and exposure. the one thing i notice that could be easily improved, is the white negative space in the bottom. a general rule of thumb with photography, depending on the situation, is to not leave tones of white on edges that match or are lighter than the border tones. just the slightest bit of burning in the bottom corner could really help unify this space as an interesting shape and fulfill your composition more, allowing the great skin tones and textures to pull forward even more. good luck. curtis

thanks for the comment. interesting shot here. the blur effect and the looking over the shoulder combine to add a sense of looking back into the past, or 'regret'. very nice title with this piece.

very strong light use here. the color hues are great and this has a very mystical sense to it. nice job.

Joe, strong image here. This one has a lot more conceptual/emotional information to present than some of the others. Sometimes through simplification we can have nice compositions and really convey conceptual info. nice work.

Larry, strong use of something that matters to you, an emotion or idea, a story, and presenting it photographically. interesting composition and great idea here.

Gracias por tus comentarios. Espero que puedas entender el español, es muy parecido a portuguese. Bueno, me gusta esta foto porque la composición está completemente simple, solo con colores y formas, cosas abstractas. Bien hecho aquí.

Michael, thanks for the comment. as for the grain, this was not scanned in a negative scanner, and in the switch to jpeg i think it lost some details. thanks again.

very strong color hue use here. the rim of the hat and the red hue do a lot for your composition. interesting use of space and color hue, nice job.

very nice work. your portfolio is strong and you are doing nice things. this has a strong conceptual/emotional aspect as well as being strong formally. are you a student of photography?

very nice use of dop and grain here. the focus on the girl yet the recogniton of the man behind, looking on, parenting, is very strong. nice formally and conceptually.

very nice work here. the dark negative space on the left plays off perfect with the dark values of the hair on the right. very nice composition and exposure.

you have a very nice portfolio, with various types of pieces. i find this one of your more effective newer postings. here you have divided the space greatly, leaving negative space as interesting geometric and linear shapes. nice job.

i like the abstract sense to this and the large dark negative spaces, but i find the right side compositionally a little too much. cropping in slightly could stop this strong division and add more interest. nice work though.

nice work here. very nice patterns created in the sand. have you by chance studied or seen works of Edward Weston? if not, look into some of his sand dune works, amazing abstracts.

Saludos

nice work here Larry. your portfolio is strong and you continue with good stuff. i like the effect you have used here, with the motion. although i'm not sure if the motion blur and harsh angling have not been overdone a little. when i see a photo i like i want it to keep me staring for awhile, examing details and following the lines and shapes throughout. in this example, the strong contrast between focus and angling makes it more difficult to spend as much time looking at the actual photo for what it is, and not just moving right to recognition of the technique used to create it. i don't mean to put down your image in any way, it is strong and very creative, keep it up.

Tony, aquí tienes una foto bellísima, y la idea está muy interesante y abstracta. Mucha gente usa refleciones en sus fotos, pero tu lo has usado en una manera muy buena. Está bien padre, qué chevere.
