another strong image with lots of true meaning. making beauty out of the problems and ugly things we see in our world. this is a nice way of making commentary and stirring emotional and conceptual thought.

Larry, your portfolio is getting stronger and stronger. You are really capitalizing on strong emotional subjects and conceptual ideas. Your use of values and tones along with the camera perspective really enhance and make possible this achievement. Great tones throughout this image from the ladies to the clouds. keep it up.

It's interesting viewing the two versions. This one presents a different emotional quality, with much more warmth due to the color tones. the other is less forward, and more thoughtful. i like both versions myself, just different emotional qualities due to the lighting and tones.

this is another example of the exposure. i really like what you're doing here, and the darkened subject is nice, but i think exposing a little more for the facial region and skin tones would enhance this a lot. aiming the meter directly on this area for your exposure should compensate and give a nice overall image. it's always difficult shooting subjects against a strong light source ilke here.

thanks for the comments. you have an interesting porfolio. one thing i would suggest would be to work on your exposure technique a little. in many of these images you are exposing for other areas and missing some highlight regions that could really enhance your work. if there were a few more highlights and tones in the facial region i think this would be a stronger image. great textural qualities and tones in the pants and shirt. nice job and thanks again.

I don't understand what they are criticizing. Compositionally, I find all 3 men to be important, and especially the closer one, with the black shirt, opposite of the others. The close and then further men add a level of depth into the image and a repetition of the 3 forms. Cropping out that man would create no more than a snapshot of a guy with jackhammer. Nice work as it is.

I find this to be one of your more interesting images, largely due to the abstract sense and the use of repetition of form. This is much simpler than some of your other pieces, less recognizable, and in my opinion, more interesting to view. Nice capture of color hues and lighting and form.

Very interesting portfolio and I like seeing the many experimental shots. I like what you have done here, but I find the movement a little too much compositionally. The lack of a larger section in the bottom with clear focus takes away from the overall images form and leaves it difficult to view and really appreciate what is there for extended time. The motion is great, but I think with the bottom section raised a little and clearer, the more dominant forms would play off the movement more effectively. either way, keep it up and nice work.

Great ambient light here and capture. I like the piece but find the composition flawed and too center heavy. I think pulling in from the right towards the hand could do a lot to improve this images composition, pull the light rays forward more, and have a more dramatic effect.

Erik, I really enjoy this one. Throughout your portfolio you have a nice balance of more commercial based work and portraiture and then things I tend to enjoy more, such as this. I find much more depth in this image, the thought process, and the overall presentation. Great abstract qualities here and very nice tones throughout. Nice job.
