He's not in any danger at all. This was taken on one of our backcountry missions behind Whistler Mountain. There are a lot of slips on that slope, but there's a giant Valley just beyond the person so he was in no danger. Our original plan was a ski that slope, but the avalanche danger proved too high. We also carry transceivers, shovels and probes at all times in the mountains. He was actually on his way to dig a test pit and snowcave in this photo.
Glad you enjoyed the photo, it's always hard to grasp scale on alpine environment as there aren't any trees of other natural shapes to relate too.
