I see what you mean. I've never been to a camera club shoot (not being a member of a club). I imagine there is a lot of compromise in the final set up.

Given the traditional lighting for this portrait I would have used a small key/hair light to separate her hair from the backdrop.

nessa, thanks for stopping in again and commenting. I have been visiting your portfolio pretty regularly and enjoy your work. It seems that you can't take a poor shot of Hollie and I liked your "Frosty winter night very much.

joey, I apprectiate you taking the time to comment on my image. Thanks. I very muck liked your photograph titled "touchin ground", it reminds of beaches on the east coast I've visited.

Alan, I appreciate your comments. Thank you for taking the time. Your macros and autumn leaf shots are all very enjoyable. I like "Red against Blue" the best; simple, focused, good use of color.

Jake, I'm sorry to hear that you're discouraged. You shouldn't. I have yet to figure out the aesthetic for this site. I look at images posted by some with hundreds of hits that I consider one step above snapshots. Other posters are putting up very compelling images and get very few looks. My opinion is to keep working and posting.

When is the wedding? Don't pull a Jay on me.

Jake, good to see you've surfaced again. I enjoy the portraits of the kids you've been posting. I agree that reducing the DoF would be a good touch for this portrait.

Simon, what would infuse this with the passion you believe is lacking? Critical comments are most useful when they provide suggestions on how to improve the image or the photographer's art.

Thanks Jake. Don't be too jealous about the cold weather. I spoke with Brad and NE Ohio is having the same weather you've got in Raeford.

Nessa, Thanks so much for the comment. It is gratifying to recieve it from someone with such a good portfolio. I first looked at your portfolio when you posted The Writer back in October. It is on of my favorites.

Henrik, Thank you for your kind comment. Winter is definitely here this year; lots of ice and frost but not much snow yet. I very much enjoyed your portfolio, particularly The Civilized One.
