Thanks for the reply Hercule, please tell me what this image does for you, you say bizarre, what emotions does it bring up? Scary? Unworldly? Supernatural? I was just curious. I am setting up a new website and would like some feedback. This is a time exposure made by a full moon and lite with color gels. The wind was gusting wildly, I'm surprised the image came out this good. Best Regards ~ Jason ~

Hello Travis, to answer your question. I wear all black and I try to duck behind objects when I fire the flash unit. It takes practice but the outcome is rewarding. GET OUT THERE AND SHOOT!

Hi Stan,
To answer your questions; the images are usually one long exposure with a second of the moon taken thru a telephoto lens.
I'm sorry for the grainyness of my photos it comes from scanning my proofs, I think it has to do with the texture of the photographic paper. My photos look much better in person however, there is some degradation in the transition into digital form. Any advice in this area is appreciated.

Rember the Alamo! One of my favorite subjects. It might could use a little more color correction (more blue) I respect your patriotism ,from native Texan.

Best one yet Kostas, I think film is better suited for this, rather than the digital images you have posted in the past.

I like the presentation, and the simplicity of the images seem complement each other.

Hi George, I love the Hill Country and am truly blessed to be living here. This photo was done near the Guadalupe River. Thanks for your interest.

Thank your for your input, I only made the harsh comments against digital photography to invite debate. I feel there is too much hype over this digital revolution. I invite more people to comment about this digital vs. film question. I know that digital cameras have their place but how can one just trade in their film cameras for digital, and buy in to this quantity vs. quality thing. PLEASE COMMENT IN THIS DEBATE

Yes it was! It is not hard to see this type of thing up here in the Hill Country after a good downpoor. I hope to do some cool night shots of the River Walk this X-mas. Best Regards

This is a double exposure. The moon was added in the second exposure with a telephoto lens @ 1/125th. The original exposure was made with a wide angle lens @ around 7 min. Do you feel that the moon is out of focus?

I usually shot in remote places and allways get permission. I keep a small portfollio of my work and gain access to all kinds of locations. I have been approached by law enforcement before and they once they see what I'm doing they are very supportive. Thanks for your interest.

The prosess is completely intuitive. I keep a constant f-stop of 5.6 and use negetive film because it is more forgiving. The rest is just trial and error, after a while one tends to guess the proper exposures.

Good shot , might work better with blue color correction and a little more motion.

Hi Ryan, The catus was lit with a small flash light with a color correction gell on it. I exposed the cactus at the very end of the one hour exposure. Your shot is okey however, I prefer the longer exposures of one hour +, If I were you I would light up the forground trees with a 1 million + candle power quartz beam or several pops from a flash unit. I will be uploading more of my night shots in the days to come where if have used these these light sources. If you want to get into night photography you will need all mechanical camera. If you use a modern camera with an electronic shutter you will find yourself with a dead camera in no time. I prefer my Nikon FM2 ,Canon Ftb, and for medium format my Mamiya RB67 and Thanks for your interest, Jason
