The one I like best is to copy the image to another layer. Use the Gaussian Blur on the top layer (between 3 and 6), lower the opacity of the layer to about 50%, then erase where you want the detail back. (i.e. eyes, hair, mouth) I got it from a great book I have for retouching tricks. "The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby. Fantastic book with tons of information. Hope this helps. Great portrait though.

I don't know if its PS or makeup, but her skin looks quite darker and warmer in the middle of her face, than her forhead and chest/shoulders. Since dark colors recede, it kind of pushes her face in. A lot of fair skinned people will choose darker makeup to give them warmth and a pseudo-tan though. As a makup artist it breaks my heart, because ivory skin is just so beautiful. She is a beautiful girl! Great red hair and the green background really sets it off.

What wonderful colors so rich and saturated. Loved the Sprackleframe as well. Perfectly suited. Liftedmy mood from the cold windy day we're having.

This really grabbed my eye. What a beautiful, yet painful looking plant. Love the colors and DOF. I like the blue sky, it really pops the yellow.

Beautiful. The colors are stunning and that blue boat just sets it off perfectly. Truely poetic.

Just so beautiful. Such a tender intimate photo. Made me tear up a little. I'm such a softy. Lovely composition and tones.

Thanks for the tip. I sure will inquire about it. Anything that will help him. Will look for books about it as well.

He's doing pretty well. He and my daughter have been really close lately. Though as a mother you know with closeness, comes fighting! Bickering and getting on each other's nerves. Anthony's favorite movie right now is Finding Nemo, and has been memorizing the lines. He doesn't talk much and often his speach isn't very clear, but there is a lot of proclaiming, "Fish are friends, NOT food!" I'd have to say that's his favorite line. He's such a joy. It saddens me sometimes his frustration with his limited ability to communicate. Its hard on him. I adore both of them though and though Rachel has her moments taking advantage of her brothers lack of verbal skills (i.e. he can't tell on me) she is a good big sister who more often than not takes him under her wing and tries to teach him and take care of him. I love being a mother! How are yours?

Wow, great shot. The graininess really emphasizes her aged face. Such a wonderful natural expression. I agree with you about posed people. My boyfriend looks absolutely terrible when posing for a picture. Stiff, with a terrible "pose smile" that borders on looking evil. It is one of the reasons I love taking pictures of my son. As you are well aware, autistic children don't pose, they don't fake smile. His expressions are always genuine. I love that. Wonderful capture!

What a beautiful work of art. Breathtaking. I have been out of the loop here for awhile and what wonderful work you have been doing! I could spend a week in your portfolio! This is one caught my eye. The texture, the warmth, the femininity, the pose, and the Mona Lisa expression. Just fabulous.

Thank you so much Judy! Maybe a slow time of day. But one of a compliment like yours makes my day. I don't do a lot of scenic pictures, and there are so many here who do such awe inspiring work with them. Just my attempt to experiment out of my comfort zone.
