Gorgeous Carmem!!

I think this is one of the best waterfall shots I have ever seen. Well done.

7/7

Cheers...John.

You've nailed it with the "Big Sky" perspective in this version.

I can really feel the scale and majesty of the scene that must have confronted you--awesome!

A very nice composition and exposure from a beautiful day. I like the perspective also and the pine trees remind me of the Hoop Pines from the island where I live.

Cheers...John.

Thankyou all for your comments. This particular shot has been a work in progress for some time now and each time I've felt I've failed to correctly grasp where the image really is. This
is the crop that seemed to work the best. I wanted the image to be stark and cold which is why I moved away from using colour--maybe in time I'll rethink that.

I've attached a small copy of the original )

Thanks once again...John.

Hi Jorge,

It's a good concept and you've made good use of a diagonal in your picture. I like the lighting but would like to see more of the root.

Thanks for sharing...John.

Susie,

You know that feeling you get when you've nailed it? Well you nailed it--congratulations!

It has a stunning tonal range--fabulous.

I 'd love to know how you did that.

Thanks for sharing...John.

I love this!!

What a magic image. I have seen this worked before but more as a gimmick. However, the conception, composition, DOF, texture and lighting in your creation are all perfect. well done. This is art!

Congratulations.

Thank you Gayle,

First ever colour IR of mine that I kept. I like the Hendrix reference. A few glasses of wine and I feel I could drown in all that purple.

on second thoughts maybe that's enough wine )

cheers

Hi Orazio. Nice conceptualisation. For what it's worth I would reccomend that you re-work it again but this time when you flip the image apply a little perspective distortion to it to account for the fact that your film plane is not parallel to the reflected scene i.e. slightly squeeze down the left-hand side of your mirrored image (reflection). I would also recommend pulling back the curves in the reflected image as the reflection should be darker not lighter than the actual image.

Hope you find this critique helpful and constructive. Thanks for sharing.

Best regards...John.

What a fabulous moody shot made even better by the fact it was actually caught on film--I'm impressed.
