This was shot in RAW mode to give me extra latitude because I was unsure of the lighting. I used a light meter but was afraid the light meter would give a reading giving more light than the mood I wanted so I took the meter reading and cut it down two stops. I shot at 2 seconds at f8 but found the model could not hold perfectly still so I changed it to 1/2 sec at f4. ireally took a guess with the exposure but I was shooting RAW so I knew I had 5 stops to ply with.
One candle would not throw nearly enough light for the model to stay still. The exposure would have to be longer than two seconds. The thing that makes this shot is that there are 10 candles - only one in the shot. The 9 others are out of view and in front of a mirror to add even more light. This gave me a good amount of light and kept the warm color of the candle. The warm color is really from shooting candles at a white balance for daylight.

This is my favorite of the three. I think that has to do with the interaction, with two focal points (model and candle) there should be some interaction between the two. The other two you have in this series seem to be lacking that interaction. The only sugestion on this one is to move the candle more in line with the left third, that might also include the elbow that is missing on the left. But I do love the tones.

John, you captured the skintones really very well, very nicely exposed, and a tastefully seductive atmosphere. I dont know if a slightly lighter background would have worked better by improving the contrast with her hair. Nonetheless very pleasing - well done.

Thanks Dick. I have to admit and give the model the credit for the shot. It was her idea and I did not think it would look good....I was wrong!

The site removed the leading space, she was centered with the lighting at about 30 degrees on both sides of her.
