I like the "peepers" but the bride needs some more light and the lines of the pillars/and walls could be a bit more horizontal, try croping & rotation it in PS,

Hi, John...i'm laughing as i look at this because i can hear Jim's words in my ear and though i didn't understand what he was talking about, it came out really funny..this portrait is great..really super..perfect in every way, exposure, composition, tones, expression. Gorgeous hair and totally silky tones..yum..thanks for your comment on my image, "Tail lights"! kat~

It would be.....self-serving to comment on this pic (I do like it though) so I'll just rate it then pass on out of the frame...I give it a 7, 453, 228. Thanks man!

What you could of done also is use the spot metering option on the Mintolta Maxxum 5 on the white feathers and opened up by 1/2 - 1 stop. You have a good camera. one thing to rember is that a camera meters 18% gray. I use the spotmeter and use manual most of the time. Good luck, Have fun any question you may have feel free to email me. also here is a lighten verison of your photo. check out my photos.

Good Photo, I think you should of open the lens up by 1/2-1 stop to bring out some of the darker area and light up the white feathers. A good title for this photo "Proud to be an American"

oh shucks..c'mon, wouldja? i have never been POD, EC, SC, POTD, LCD, ASAP, XXX, PHD, LSD, DO-RE-MI, FA-SO-LA-TI-DO or even critique-of-the-day in this place. i'm just a shooter like you..just maybe with a little more experience than two weeks, but still trying to make sense out of this piece of metal and glass and electronics called a camera. You're doing great..just get wild. There are no rules. Have fun. Follow your instincts. kat~

hi, Roger! No, darlin', it wasn't me who talked about tones. i was admiring the composition and discussing my personal reaction to this photo, which i liked a lot. i don't mind the dark tones (haha, me mind dark tones?), they don't distract from my enjoyment of the image at all. But i did want to say that i think you might be confusing my comments with someone else's. ))regards: kat~

I do like this image... it goes some way to leaving the viewer to figure it out I dont quite agree with what Kathleen is saying about the tones I think that for the size of the image the tones are a tad dark but having said that it is still a very successful image, that would be stronger for a slightly lighter treatment.

gee, this is different..a sexy hay bale image. Not since Marilyn Monroe posed seductively in a hay loft with her gingham blouse tied up under her "bosoms" (so i don't get censored) have i seen such a delectable bit of female anatomy and hay in the same frame. And i'm straight, so get that thought right outta yer head! ) This is sexiness for the new millenium. No gingham shirts and white shorts for this girlfriend..no exaggeratedly arched poses with that come hither look, ohhh, nooo...silver bracelets at the ends of casually hanging arms, and a nothing special kinda shirt ending somewhat short of her unbelted perfectly worn jeans, showing just the merest bit of pretty tummy. And no head. And in b&w no less. Very intuitively provocative shot on your part. Bold, brave and i love the centered position of her. It says, you can look at the scenery if you want to, buddy, but you hafta get past me to do it. Well done..and you say you bought your first camera 2 weeks ago? You don't believe in wasting time, do you? Best regards from Costa Rica: kat~

haha, i love this photograph. usually i see photographs of children, with their mouths closed and their eyes expressionless or downcast; people often photograph children not when they look like children, but when they look like adults. thank you for capturing this wonderful expression that is both child and adult, but is such a fresh breath of air in the world of child photogaphy.
