I agree. The version that I printed to frame does not have the lens flare in it. I am posting the original. It will show how bad the shot was to begin with. Thanks for your critique.

hi Brian - i really quite like the grainy feel of this shot. the only thing I do thinks works with this image is the lens flare effect you have used.
the 'halo' on the bike light looks good - but the other 'element reflections' just detract in my humble opinion.
Perhaps more importantly for this image - the colours from the filter look (are?) wrong for a b&w image
I've taken away the colour in my example below - see what you think
Despite my seeming very critical - i actually love this shot - and I think the graininess of the image actaully makes it

I think the light could have come from the other direction so the faces became more visible, or you could use a reflector. The pose is nice.

Thanks for the very well thought out reply. The actual photo shoot was slightly overexposed due to my forgetting to change the ISO setting on my camera. I did my test shoot in the morning and forgot to compensate for the additional sunlight. I did add to the harshness with photoshop and adjusted the levels to try to create something artistic. Your portfolio is excellent and I appreciate the critique. I am a novice in this hobby, but trying to learn quickly. Thanks, Brian

I think that it is slightly overexposed, but nothing you couldn't adjust with photoshop.

Brian, I really like the idea here. However, the photos look soft and in harsh light. Get this girl into some shade and try again. If you were going for a sort of High Key look, then I apologize. :-)
The way she moves from sort of dark looking to lightness is great. Really a wonderful way of showing both a devilish and angelic side. (for lack of better terms)

Thanks for the advice. I have found an article stating similar advice. This was my first attempt and I forgot that I had set my camera to ISO 1600 the night before when trying to take pictures at night. I don't think it helped much. Once again I appreciate your advice. Brian

It a bit over exposed
Here is a tip:
Timed exposure with tripod
ISO 64-100 @ f/8
ISO 125-200 @ f/11
ISO 320-400 @ f/16
ISO 800-1000 @ f/22
For sharp fireworks bursts, use a tripod and hold the shutter open with a cable release until several burts of fireworks are recorded. Without touching the lens, cover it withyour hand or a black card between bursts.
