Beautiful panoramic. I think I'm still too ambitious with my panoramics. I still stitch too many images together and the result is an unfriendly viewing size when uploaded.

Incredible lighting in this image.
Have a happy holidays

A beautiful panorama Steve. Love the colours. Stunning. I haven't experimented with stitching images together yet. Hope I can do half as well when I'm ready to try it. Seamless. Sunrise at 9:40 huh. At least you're getting a sunrise. All we get is rain and more rain here in Oregon. Haven't seen the sun in many days.

Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Cheers - Ann

Yamil, the snowy owl required more patience than most of my other photos. It took two days to find the nest, and then it took a day of slowly moving a blind closer and closer until we were near the nest. I also had a strange experience while working on the owl. I first saw an owl fly, and went looking for it. I saw a light colored thing about a mile away, but the heat refraction was so bad I couldn't make out what it was. As I got closer, I knew what I was seeing was hair, not feathers. My brain said BEAR, but I reasoned no bear would be out in the middle of wet tundra where there was little to eat. I was hoping maybe I'd found a fox den. As I got within 30 yards of it, a large light colored brown bear stood up, stretched, and then lay back down. All I'd been seeing was the very top of it's head behind a small hummock. I quickly reversed direction, and gave up hunting for the owl that day.

You are very lucky. These frogs are the most poisonous animal on this planet.

You lucky you did not grab the Phyllobates terribilis Which is a larger species and deadly. the toxin from this species can kill ten grown men.

This is a excellent shot.

The conditions have to be just right to have the frost crystals grow. It needs to be very cold and still. Any wind and they are immediately crumbled. Trying to photograph them can be frustrating, as when you get close to them, convection from your own body heat causes a bit of wind, and they move. Jim, it's an early morning photo, so the color isn't pure white.

Interesting to see that such a large flake of frost forms on the snow like that. Outdoors I've only seen them around the edges of some animal burrow or at the water's edge, places darned near impossible to shoot them. We do get some lovely patterns on the windows, I'm still trying to get some good macro shots of them.

This is one of those natural patterns I must try and capture. From time to time we get these sort of patterns on our car windows early on cold winter mornings, but I'm always off to work at the time without my camera or time.

Like Jim I remember (in the days when we didn't have any central heating in our house) that it was ot uncommon to see these crystals on the INSIDE! of the windows. It brings back all sorts of childhood winter memories.

Funny how something so simple can jog the mind in such a way.

Thanks for sharing.

Very cool shot. I remember seeing these formations on our windows from time to time growing up. This brings back good memories. One thing that really stands out to me with this image is the red tone to the entire image. I've uploaded my best guess color corrected version (with half the original to show the difference). Snow and ice photos are very challenging to correct. I gave it my best shot. Let me know if I'm off base on this. I can't imagine the ice was red in color originally, but perhaps that is the influence of lighting near where you were. Also seeing your photo reminds me I owe you an email.
