I am from Pakistan, living for work in Saudi Arabia.
This picture was taken in my very beautiful country in a side valley at the start of the Kaghan valley near Babusar Top.

This is perfectly the kind of place that landscape photographers have to go back to, to photograph again and again. I wish I could go there at daytime so that the water would come blue. That would be one hell of a photo, totally out of this world with the trees in a lake.

That is so beautiful ... so much like a painting.
I didn't know the 20D had such a wide latitude (i guess they have improved the sensor or the exposure metering) to capture such wide range of exposure.
Anyway, the tool aside ... the scene captured is beautiful ... good eye.

Maybe I have the wrong camera, that is how I feel everytime I look at one of these execellent pictures. But then, is it the machine or the person behind it which is more important?

Nice ... I would crop it just a tiny bit tighter from the right. The idea of empty space in front of the face is good , but the amount of space here is a bit distracting for my taste.

Very pretty!
Maybe a slightly higher viewpoint towards 2'o clock would have added a bit more shine in the eye. Just my 2 pence, otherwise the shot is beautiful.

Now that is 'painting with light', ie. photography. Did you de-saturate the pic or something?
Just one suggestion though, if I was you I would have used a hood on the lens (that is if the shot was pre-planned, if it was one of those magical-moment-catch-it-if-you-can, then anything goes).

This picture is my first attempt at breaking away from the 'rules of composition'. Things are not really arranged according to the rule of thirds to the letter but for some reason i had to take this picture..
Any comments will be very welcome.

Excellent momement captured ... but maybe a little bit more of the foreground would have enhanced the mood by giving it more depth.

I like the way you have capture an eerie mood using B&W ... looks like a scene straight out of Lord of the Rings but in B&W. Good photo!

Thank you all so much for your constructive feedback ... following are some of my reasons for taking this picture the way it is:
- the shadow on the left accentuates the need for him to sit in the sun, the only source of warmth a poor man can have in winter.
- there was too much clutter right of the door, I agree adding some more of the door would have done wonders for the composition, there just wasn't any.
