yes, after a storm indeed. well having experienced many storms in my life, i can guess that an antarctic storm brings out some bad stuff.... and yes, people are looking at your blog tim. its quite interesting, and i'm glad to see you got your money's worth on that trip.

warmest regards ~ james

well done, and a bit of mystery surrounding it. i continue to get good ideas from other photographers on this site. thanks very much.

not bad. i knew it was some kind of factory, but never guessed a brewery. maybe adjust the contrast slightly? nice shot nonetheless.

nice effect here 130130760 (is that your phone number by any chance?)

all i can add is that i would try to adjust the contrast and brightness here a little. i think that would make this one even nicer than it is. its a lovely looking place, we share the same interest in this kind of thing obviously.

take care ~ james

i lived in the north of canada when i was a child. and even when we moved back south, you could still see the northern lights on the prairies. i do miss them, havent seen them in years now, and this photo makes me miss those cold wintery nights even more.

well done ~ james

Hi Tim. I had several other desert photos that looked fine in colour, so I thought I'd try this in black and white, and I was pleased with the results. In fact, I'm planning on doing more photos in black and white now, particularly photos of older parts of some cities and towns here in China. I think that kind of setting looks better without colour.

Tim, I thought of trying to straighten the image out a bit, just seemed I had the camera at an angle when I took the photo. But then I just realized these places aren't built straight to begin with.

the harrier is one of the ugliest planes i've ever seen (not as bad looking as the A-10 mind you) but its very functional (as is the A-10) and an excellent machine. was this taken at an air show or at a navy/marine base?

well done here ~ james

excellent shot except for those heads. didnt see them on the thumbnail. anyway, shots like this need to be taken quickly, and what you need is a lot of luck when taking them.

good work nonetheless. james

well done jeroen. almost impossible to get photos like this today, at least at major airports anyway. i may have to start finding some smaller airstrips to get something like this.

nicely done. havent seen your photos before but glad to have found this aviation folder.

its possible to take similar photos in bangkok now, there's a highway running parallel to the suvarnabhumi airport. might give that a try later this month when i'm there.

very interesting concept you have here dan, microscope photography. an area most people obviously never have the opportunity to see on a daily basis.

its definitely interesting. warmest regards ~ james

alison, this shot has god potential. Stan ciszek has posted another (also nicely done) version below, but it doesnt seem to have been desaturated. can i suggest you desaturate it, adjust the contrast and brightness slightly, then post it again?

I think the result will be much nicer.

Take care ~ james

I wasnt sure what it was when i first looked at the thumbnail. It came across as just an abstract of unknown origin, then it appeared to be some sort of galactic shot. finally, it occurred to me that it might be gasoline on the street which tends to have those streaky colours in it. It is indeed colourful and nicely done.

I'm curious what you mean by "light interference" though. Can you explain a bit?

Thank you very much sir. in fact, this was one of my first images shot with a digital camera, having only purchased the Fuji S5000 a few months before going to Detian Waterfall. Your suggestion on the wide angle is noted... I hope to go back there again this summer, and redo the photos done previously.

I've definitely learned a lot in the past four years of digital photography, most of it from others on Usefilm.

not a bad effort. too bad there's no blue sky to break up the monotony a bit. what is that structure for?

your portfolio is improving since i last saw it. this one is very well seen. the clouds make the photo, without the clouds doesnt appear to be much there. is this early morning?

interesting "about" and useful information. i try to take photos of sunflowers when i can, but usually i find the wind is blowing too much in the places i've been lately. will hope for better luck next time.

these ones are very colourful and the sky is nice as a backdrop here. well done ian ~ james

very interesting image and about alison. you probably know this already, some military technology is based on how insects survive and find prey in nature. fascinating creatures.
