Hi Tammy, don't mind what some people say, photography can indeed be harsh but it should first of all be fun. When the fun is over the quality drops, it has become an everydayjob. Did you know that some of the best photographers are not pro's but simple amateurs! A pro has a deadline, an editor, a client to please...as the amateur has time and only him- or herself to please. So and now on to the picture:) As Doyle said...overexposed but you all probably had your part of the fun. Alain

Wow Tarah. Who, might I ask, "Instructed" you to critique this way? The offense wasn't taken because a critique was made . . . it was the way in which it was made. Brutal honesty is fine . . . but there IS a difference between stating your opinion on how to improve a shot and stating your opinion dressed up to resemble some fact etched in stone!
You said nothing about the pose? What does this mean? They "lack the ability to be in front of a camera" By definition - that is NOT true. So what could the statement mean?? Especially if it's nothing to do with the pose.
You mention "Well the shirts all need to be one color, not three different tones." Where is that written?
I suppose the only thing you said that was correct was for them not to quit their day jobs . . . your 'joke'. They should complete their high school education (in my opinion).
Tarah . . . perhaps it might be better for you to show us the proper way to compose and light a shot of High School kids in a random pose on the spur of the moment. I was sorely disappointed to see that you have NO photos posted. They say those who can - Do . . . Those who cannot - Teach! In my opinion, I have seen neither from you yet. A shame this is the only person who you've helped with your educational critique to date - not counting the comment (not critique) about the door.
Regards, Doyle I <~~~~~

Tammy, I am sorry if I offended you in any way I was just trying to give some advise for shooting people. If you did not what the pic. to be Critiqued than you should not have put it online. It was a joke about them not quiting there day jobs, I know they are yong, and inexperienced. As far as the shirts go, It does matter what they look like. you should train you eye to notice anything and every thing that could go wrong in your photo, including the clothing. I said nothing about the pose, if I remember what I did say concerning the pose was that the photo strucher was good ( meaning the pose - how it was composed.)I'm so sorry if you thought my Criticism was to harsh. I was Instructed to Critique this way. Becides the world of photography can be harsh, even if you are not pro.

Sweet little girl. I like how her hands are holding the ornaments, and her face in profile is a fresh perspective. If you move her away from the backdrop some it would be easier to blur it out and we could focus more on the child.

This photo needs much help. The structure is ok. The light is pitiful and your choice of models lack the ability to be in front of a camera, tell theme not to quit their day job. As far as their clothing is concerned. Well the shirts all need to be one color, not three different tones. If you want to go with Black, go with Black don't make all the shirts differ from one another. One being dark gray, the next black with detail, and 18% gray. The red tag on the model to the rights jeans is distracting and totally draws your attention to that one spot. the lighting is so bad that you can not even tell that the girl in the middle has two arms it looks like more of a white blob than an arm.. you may have some lens flare as well. Oh my gosh I need to stop now before I go even futher than I alredy have. You need a RS on this photo.

Cool idea. Great pose and title. I do agree the lighting is pretty harsh. You should attempt this again. Pose and girls are definitely worth another shot.
