This picture was taken in full color with a B&W skylight filter. I then converted the photo into black and white using some techniques in photoshop. I did NOT use the simple grayscale filter in PS to make this happen. It's a little more complex, but the technique is well worth it.

Nice capture... especially the banner plane in the distance! I love the color and composition. The bride and traffic lights add some interest lower in the image. Well done!

yes it is... whitewater falls in NC. I was there in July after a period of heavy rain, so there was a lot of water flowing down. Here's a picture of the bottom at the same time:

While I'm not a big fan of fisheye lenses, I like this photo. It works. Cool perspective and feel.

personally, I would have focused more on the water to bring more interest into the shot. Additionally, I would move the sun further into the frame... Think of the thirds rule.. divide the frame into a three vertical sections from left to right.. put the sun on the left line... so it's in that third of the frame... do the same with the shoreline... but horizontally. Put it in on the top line...

try it and see what you get!

I love the contrasts in the photo. The green adds more interest and the reflection balances the height of the photo. All of that frames the primary subject nicely!

I love this shot... but cannot help but offer this comment. The dock seems to blend into the shore line.. I wonder what this image would have been like if we were looking down at the person on the dock... rather than up. That would effectively bring the dock down in the frame and create more water to reflect the sky.

Excellent as it is, however... just a thought!

wow... B&W is a very powerful medium... especially when used well.. as demonstrated here. I love the inclusion of the couple for the human element also.
