Hello Mark, The name stenciled on the side of the aircraft is "J. Clyman". I don't know if that is the pilot who flew this Corsair in WWII, though in the interest of historical accuracy, it may very well be. Much attention to detail has gone into restoring this plane. I think you would agree that it's highly unlikely that the original pilot is at the controls in the photo. I have other images of this plane in my portfolio if you're interested. Our principal in junior high in 1973 flew a Corsair in WWII. His name was Mr. Amerine. This one you photographed has 16 kills. Who was the pilot?

It's a simple and pretty shot, but admittedly wanted either to see more of the plane, or perhaps some other element in the frame t help with dynamics.

Thanks for pointing out the error, Dave. It was not long after the eclipse reached totality that it started to cloud over where I am also, so I was not able to grab any shots of the moon emerging from the eclipse.
