I'd point the camera lower to introduce a bit of space between the bottom of the fire hydrant and the bottom of the picture, but other than that, I think this photo is wonderful. The subject, the composition, the toning are all very good.

I like the graininess and blurriness of this image. It helps illustrate the "messiness" of a fireman's job. Yes, he's a hero, but it's a dirty job. Nice job on keeping his face clear though. It invites the viewer to look at his expression to see what it's like to be a fireman.

I like your way of using the daylight very much in this photo. At a distance I see someone passing by out there and the people to the right seem to follow him/her, leaving the dark behind.
