<< This image woulf have benifitted from a greater DOF. Nice idea... >>

I don't think it would. Actually, what I think would be the better shot would be to have everything in focus and then in photoshop blur selective parts of the image.

If I had enough DOF to get the cars in focus, the scene would be more cluttered and distracting, I think. All those trees and the parking lot in focus would not let the arm stand out as well.

Sadly, I won't ever get this shot again, as my friend is moving out of his apt. in Miami very soon.

I'd really really like to know how you got the sun to line up like that, right on the edge.... amazing.

The photoshoped sky does little to enhance this image, other than to reinforce the fact that we're not looking at anything "real." I don't think it helps this image at all. The dark lower-left corner is distracting, as it keeps pulling the eye away from the subjects.

My usual 2 cents.

I have to agree with Deniz. There's too much empty sky in this image. Otherwise, a very interesting shot and a good use of the fisheye.

Alex and Andreas,
Thanks for the comments!

Andreas,
On the Holga, ~f/16 is "sunny" and ~f/8 is "cloudy"

Gabriele,

Yeah, this does warrent some more film, to try and nail the balance. I think a better application of the Rule of Thirds on my part could help. If I placed the ball dead center it would have seemed cliche, I think.

Only one way to find out I guess. Now I just have to find a decent garden with a gazing ball near my house and not one that's over 2000 miles away!

Things I should have done to improve the shot:
1) Cleaned the gazing ball. The fingerprints are noticable and detract from the image.
2) Taken more shots! I only took this one shot, sort of a "I wonder if..." sort of thing. I am happy with it, but with all the color around me, I should have explored shooting this as a subject more.
