This is great. I love the tonality.

Thanks a lot guys - I really do appreciate the help (and honesty).

Ok, so - if I were to reshoot it - what changes would need to be made? Is the problem in the subject of the picture itself (as in - taken by any photographer the photo has no chance) or is it the technical side (perspective etc...)

Can you give me some more detail on how I would go about making this thing decent?

I really do appreciate honest criticism.

Ben.

I think the better question might have been: Does it NEED a crop...

At first glance I felt that it did - but I can't see how to do it - and I might just be second guessing myself.

While I do respect the fact that this IS my photo - this website is ABOUT commentary - and any would be appreciated!

I really like your crop. If the bubble on the right side of the big leaf were in focus, it would dominate the image - which isn't what I would be going for. On the other hand, the sharp drop from focus to blur on the leftmost leaf is somewhat jarring. I like it (and the BW tones are great).

It's the pants that make it art...

Amazing DOF, absolutely love the composition and the colors.

The contrast in the trees adds to the dramatic color effect.

Great job.

It is very, very good. I like how the tonality on the face is not strong enough to take away from the eyes. It also looks natural. Exceptional work.

The sense of emotion I get from this photo is extraordinary. I think the lighting is well placed, and is not too overwhelming (you can still see the ripples on the water). Good work.

I agree with Rafael. The boats in the background serve to balance the composition so much that it seems expected that there would be something on the right side. The change would not have to have been dramatic - a slight move of one of the foreground ships would have done it. Great colors!

I find the darkness of the front mountain somewhat distracting - it makes the foreground the focal point. But other then that, absolutely stunning. It's not often you can capture something so perfect.

It's very good. Book looks interesting too. If I were to make any changes, I would investigate the possibility of removing the brown gradient on the top left of the photo. Other then that, I think the slight pixilation on the bottom right makes the photo. Great work!
