I think a thighter crop will help here, you have a lot of area (front and back) out of focus, not adding much interest to the shot (in my opinion, as the flower is the main subject here)
hope you don't mind i took the liberty to do it...

I like this photo, but I have to agree with the B&W comment. This is a classic B&W composure and shot. B&W would emphasize the shapes and textures and would work well.
Not that there's anything wrong with the color version. Nice shot.
