Lovely child and very nice photo of her! I think though that it's a bit pity that you chopped the fingers off... I love children photos where the hands are included, but if fingers are chopped like this it might be better to crop even more. For an example just under where her t-shirt arm ends. DOF is excellent and lightning is good, but a little bit more light on the face would have been great. What I really like with this shot is her cute expression!

Flash would probably have ruined it - leave it behind.

Too bad about the flash, but I'd say you did okay without it. The monitor at the front of the stage and a bit too much air at the top of the photo can easily be cropped out.
