Thanks Amitava for your well thought comment. Actually I wanted to represent the flavour of Varanasi. Was it possible without the boats and horizon? "busy" - yes that is the characteristic of "Ghats" of Varanasi as is the colours. Of course I will check the other gates also. Thanks again.

Great colors, but rather too busy. I'd prefer a tighter crop to eliminate the horizon and probably even the boats.

The lady (devotee) holds the lamp (and sometimes passes) so that other persons can take the warmth of the lamp which symbolises the blessing of the god. Here everybody is in hurry to take the warmth before lamp burns out.
