Cades Cove in the Smokies is the best place to photograph deer. There are several thousand people that pass through daily so the deer are very used to people. You can get very close to the deer. In some cases I was only 20 feet from a deer and I did not disturb it in the least.

The composition is good and the reflection is nice. The main problem with the photo is the lighting. It looks like it was taken late morning, midday or afternoon when the light is flat and boring. Best time to photograph mountains is near sunrise or sunset when you have great colors on the mountian and nice shadows showing depth.

great lighting. I like the alpine glow. I also love the symitery of the mountain and its reflection.

great sky. I like how you chose to show a lot of the sky. There is a lot of drama going on. The subject the fowl is great. I like how they form a curve that roughly follows the landscape. Well done.

This is an amazing photo. I love the fog and colors of the fog. I also think the sun is well placed. Excellent work.

very good effert. The horizon is tilted. The way I solve this is with a bubble level that inserts on my flash hotshoe. The colors are warm and nice on the right but the left is not that interesting. I would crop out the left and make the image more verticle.

Good compossition and I love the angle. The sky is very dark. This is probably due to to much adjustment of the polarize filter. The dark sky distracts from the image.

By all means I use a tripod. %100 of my photos are with a strong sturdy Bogen 3221 tripod. In fact a tripod is more important then a camera, becuase with a tripod I can at least pretend like I am taking a sharp photo.

Thanks for the comments. I don't remember the exposure time. I shoot streams mostly on cloudy mornings so there is low light. I always use a polorizer. I set my f-stop for the depth of field I need. I use velvia which is ISO 50. With all of those factors I can't help but have shutter speeds of several seconds. Usually 4sec to 15sec. I dan't think about bluring the water. I know because of the conditions I choose to photograph streams it is impossible for water not to blur. In fact it is million times harder for me to freeze the motion of water then to blur it.

Wow great photo and interesting angle. I think the trees are a little dark though.

Thanks for the comments. I did use a polorizor. The glow on the water was very strong and the polorizor even in full polorizing mode (I made that up) wouldn't take it all out though it did reduce it.
