Hoi Dick,

Mooie foto, zoals gewoonlijk . Ik denk, dat het nog specialer zou zijn, als je het stukje echt kasteel er nog afhaalt en dus alleen de reflectie over houdt. Mooi!

Really well done, the yellow tram stands out against the cloudy background.

Hoi Dick,

Mooi! Ik heb je weer teruggevonden met je mooie plaatjes van Amersfoort. De sepia is echt heel toepasselijk hier.

Wonderful perspective, Jacek! I love the fact that there is a train approaching, it lends the image even more depth.

This has a really old fashioned feel to it, Phillip, like a portrait from the 1800's. I really like the composition and the painting like feel. I just think her expression is a little too stressed. The lighting too contributes to the painting feel of it. Well done!

Hi Andy,

Hey, thanks! Feels good to be missed (sounds weird, but it does ). I didn't have much to photograph for a while, so I took a little break.
In the meantime, I invested in Paintshop Pro. Total novice with the program, of course. How would I manipulate the background?
The original has a bright blue background (I'll post it next, as Leslie requested it too).
Thanks for the comments, it's good to be back .

Hi Lisa, Matt and Valeh,

Well, this was the result of about 50 different pictures of which maybe 3 were good. Every time I'd approach, she'd either start washing herself or look away.

I posted a full portrait now too. She's the one of our 4 cats that's the most willing to pose. It always seems so easy, when you see cat pictures, but these animals are never still, unless they're asleep! At least ours aren't.

Hi Larry,

Very good character picture! The composition is nice and the background too. It's too bad the lady had to squint so much, was she looking into the sun? I'll bet she loved this picture of her and her four footed friend, though.

Beautiful colors, CJ! Great DOF too. I just find the flower a little centralized. The cut of bloom to the right could be cropped or included to make a better composition, IMO. Beautiful macro, though!

Forgot to say, this is the same kitty as the one of the close-up earlier. We have 4 cats, but she's the most photogenic .

This picture makes me sad. By the title I imagine the little boy being teased and his facial expression says that too. Very emotive picture, Rene! Well done (though I want to go hug the little boy, instead of looking at a picture of his torture ).

Very humorful picture, Gustaf! This spoke to me, as I lived in Senegal for 3 years when I was a child. Was this in the Casamance?

The pelicans are well in focus and I like that there are 3, there is something about 3.

Pretty picture, Joerg and very nice framed. I like the light in the background, but I think the foreground is a bit dark. Nice view! You should go back (if you can, of course) and photograph at different times of day.

hi Dan,

I think this is a very nice picture. I like the lighter background with the contrast and focus entirely on the model. Too bad the boat just came by, it distracts from the girl. The rest of the background is straight lines, which goes well. But maybe you liked the boat there, I'm sure it's entirely personal taste.

Hoi Wietse,

Perfect! Wat een heel goede foto! De diagonaal is fantastisch! Zo'n simpele foto, maar hoe moeilijk te verwezenlijken! Well done!

Thanks, Andy. I seem to have a lot of sharpness problems with this camera. I wonder, could it ever be the camera itself? It doesn't matter if I use a tripod or not, I almost always get sharpness comments. It's frustrating!

Hi Harvey,

Yes, I'm kicking myself . I had my camera on a setting that really didn't work for the kind of pictures I was taking and it was the starkest light of the day. I was wondering if this would be better in b&w? I like the composition myself, but I'm not sure on how to improve on the snow. Thanks for looking and as always, I appreciate your insight. One day I will be following you like a puppy . But first my kids need to grow up .

Thanks, Andy! And Harvey, too, I'll look into that program. I did find where noise reduction can be done in Photo Impact just now and it does do a pretty good job. Thanks very much for viewing and going through such trouble to help!

Yes! Thanks, that looks a lot better. Now how do I do that in Photo Impact? What are the commands in Photoshop, maybe they are the same. I'm going to have to invest the mega bucks into Photoshop, I fear .

Hi Tony,

I really like this, the composition and colors are very good. I would have liked it more in focus, somehow, it's not very sharp on my monitor. But what a nice way to photograph a cyclamen!

Hi Jim,

Hey, another snowy bench picture . I agree with Andy, that the whitewash by the snow really works and with Harvey, that the 2 people really adds perspective and dimensions. Ok, that was an easy one .
Lisa, I have refrained from posting something in the past, because just minutes before, someone else posted something similar.
What appeals to me, though, is how different people view and frame similar subjects.
While Jim's picture also contains a bench and is snowy, it is completely different from mine (though he does also have the bench on the right ).

Reminds of the portraits of the beginning of the 20th century, the graininess, black and white and strong contrasting really adds to that!
