the closed eyes, the expression on their mouths... they describe the title of your photograph realy well. i'm not sure about the grain, but maybe that's just personal taste. apart from that... excellent capture!

Superb mood with this light! As already said, the leaf on foreground should be removed from this beautiful picture...

I just LOVE this kind of mood. The colors, the mist, the shape of the trees... The ONLY thing that is a bit distracting is the foreground having a leaf on the right and a branch on the left. Otherwise, superb work.

Lovely expression on this dog's face.

I sometimes have the same problem with DOF and my dog. You want to get the length of the nose from the eyes in focus, but have the background blurred. It's not easy, I usually focus on the eye and, if I'm using 50-70ish mm lens, set an aperture of about f.5.6 (minimum). It also helps if the dog's face is slightly to the side, so the nose doesn't point out to the front so much.

Having said all this, I really like this image.

Thank you for the comment!! I definitely think the same. Eyes need more focus. Thank you for the advice!!! I really need to work on DOF. I wanted the background blurred... but I also didn't want it to be so shallow her face wasn't in focus. Thank you!

Welcome to USEFILM, Jerred.

What a sweet old dog! Neat expression! I wish I still had a dog. This makes me miss my dog Shadow.

One thing I noticed that is mentioned a lot by the portrait photogs on this site is having the depth of field focussed on the eyes of the subject. Your dog has a great nose, but I would rather see that worship pouring through his focused eyes as he gazes at his friend, so either adjust aperture for a larger DOF, or make absolutely certain that the eyes are center-weighted and later crop to offset. My two cents.
