This is a great and underated shot, with alot of potential.
A bit more sharpness along with contrast and some nice lighting and you have a REAL good shot here.
I'd do this again and keep going till i get it Right.
B&W might add some mood to it too.
I'm going to check up on you april and you better have done it

You captured the moment perfectly here. The slanting background detracts a little from the image though, which is a pity.

I like the composition very much. It's difficult to get things right in a larger view but macro is very tough with auto exposure. Nothing seems to be sharp in the photo-probably because of hand holding (setting up a tripod would have lost the opportunity) and it is overexposed

If your Pentax has full manual, that is where you ( and I ) need to concentrate now. Getting the exposure correct is essential--no matter what else is right, if the exposure is off even a little, the shot is ruined.
I wouldn't worry about the spider's legs! Just being there long enough for a shot is something!

Yes, it's colored craft-type sand I use it coz it takes to the blacklight so well

I kinda wish I could see this without that usefilm green frame around it. I think just plain white would let the colors you captured (which are really great by the way) stand for themselves. I like how the colors have begun to mix in the sand. The texture of the sand gives an interesting presentation of color mixing.

I know most people will kringe, but I love the way the colors seem just a hair off, warm, overexposed. But I love the tones. Love it.

It is a spectacular view, but the colors are weak and it hurts the picture.

A little bit yes, but I wouldn't go straight to "quite overexposed" it's a rather shallow depth of field, hmmm I am working on my focus with that lense but Thomas is just that way - very unfocused looking, I'm working on it

i love kitties but this photo is quite overexposed. and the focus is quite unfocused. did you use manual or automatic settings? try out the manual settings and try to get the exposure meter right in the middle. a little cropping of the left side might also help.

cute kitty

The concept is very good. Sparkling water can make great images. The focus seems to be off though. And the eye needs a place to rest on. The silhouette of a boat would have been perfect.

Great idea! This is creativity at its best.
Looking at your image you've got really nice, deep colour in some parts, but in the main area in the middle the colour is washed out and the image out of focus. I think you could easily get a few different images from this one and I've attached the part that demands my attention. See what you think.
If you try this again maybe try with your aperture as high as it goes (f16, f22) to get more of the image in focus.
